Static screens now available! Build a $55 DoF adapter.
Static screens for Canon and Nikon tubes are now available, they are circular filters ground to a 5 micron finish. The outer diameter of the Nikon screen is 54.42mm The outer diameter of the Canon screen is 57.29mm. I will try and get some footage up soon.
Recently I have noticed that some of the canon EOS macro tube manufacturers have started to use a narrower inner diameter. This diameter is too narrow for the canon DCX condensers to fit and also the statics screens for canon tubes will not fit. I am trying to find a manufacturer that still makes the tubes to the original specifications, but if anyone knows where you can get them post a comment with the link. The new tubes have an inner diameter of 56.71mm, this is not wide enough to fit condensers or GGs
The old tubes have an inner diameter of 57.35mm, this is the correct side for condensers and GGs.
Ask the seller which size they sell before you purchase them. Old tubes and new tubes are still compatible with each other as they both have a 60mm thread so you can mix and match old and new tubes.
I am getting some custom made tubes which will look better and allow condensers and static GGs to fit, they should be ready in a week or two.
Nikon tubes are fine and condensers and GGs fit well into all the types I have tried.

Condensers for Nikon tubes, and other news.
So I finally have condensers for nikon tubes now, here is a picture:
The lenses are very good, maybe even a little sharper than the canon tube condensers.
Unfortunately they do cost a little more, but they are still very cheap.

An Ident I am working on.
I was recently asked to help make an ident for a local film festival.
Two years ago I had one of my films shown at the final screening of this same festival, and a film group I am in also hosted a mini screening in an outdoor cinema, check out the flyer we made for it on the right.
The festival is all about young film-makers in rural areas; it's tagline is "You'd be surprised at what happens right under your nose". I was given a copy of the logo, and have been working for a couple of days. Here is a draft of what I have gotten so far.
